Dr. Robert Unsell Fixes Compound Wrist Fractures

Complex Wrist Fractures

Did you know that the wrist is the most commonly injured portion of the upper extremities and is the most common type of fractures before age 75?

A wrist injury can not only be painful, but it can make everyday tasks nearly impossible to complete. A complex fracture of the wrist only make matters worse because in most cases, surgical intervention is required to secure the bones back into place so the wrist joint can properly heal.  In addition, a complex fracture may have resulted in a loss of bone or tissue or significant damage to the cartilage around the joint.

A variety of internal and external fixation devices may be used to ensure the bone is placed back into its original position. A cast or splinting will then be needed as the bones begin to heal.

Dr. Robert Unsell is a leader in the treatment of complex wrist fractures.  He utilizes advanced surgical procedures that promote complete healing of the wrist joint following complex fractures.
